Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of therapy do you do?
I am trained in several evidence-based therapies. Some of my current therapy modalities include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Humanistic (Rogerian) Therapy, Mindfulness Based CBT and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Therapy is always customized to meet the identified needs of the client.
People have described my style as kind and gentle, yet practical and change-driven. I appreciate the value and structure of evidence-based approaches, while also maintaining flexibility and a sense of humour in therapy.
What are your credentials?
I am a Registered Psychologist with 10+ years of training and experience in public and private settings. I am a Registered Psychologist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia (formerly the College of Psychologists of British Columbia) and the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists. I’m also a member of the Canadian Psychological Association.
My training has been in evidence-based interventions including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy for OCD, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I have a Master’s degree in School and Counselling Psychology from the University of Saskatchewan and supervised post-graduate training in a clinical setting.
Where do clients attend sessions?
Therapy happens during online video calls or via telephone. As such, most clients attend from home. Clients can attend from anywhere that is private and has a secure internet connection. This could be in your home, office, car, or in a private space outdoors. Clients must be physically located in British Columbia or Saskatchewan.
How many sessions do I need … (for my anxiety, to feel better, to stop my panic attacks, etc.)?
This can be a difficult question to answer because of several factors. Most clients attend at least 6-8 sessions, which is often sufficient to resolve many immediate concerns and develop a few tools/skills. More time is needed for deeper work or ongoing supportive therapy interventions.
Clients attend based on their unique goals. Many start with weekly or biweekly sessions. Many clients need less frequent sessions as time goes on, often opting for check-in sessions when needed. Clients may also have an unexpected life event happen that warrants a return to increased therapy sessions.
How long are the sessions?
Sessions are 50 minutes (i.e. a 2:00 session ends at 2:50). Extended sessions are also available if preferred by the client.
Do you offer free consultation calls?
Yes. Therapy consultation calls are always free. During the consultation call I’ll ask you to share more about what’s going on for you, answer any questions you might have, tell you about how things work, and let you know if I think I can help. Together, we’ll make a decision about if therapy will be helpful and book your first appointment if so. Consultation calls are typically 10-15 minutes long and done via telephone.
Can you direct bill my insurer?
Direct billing is not available at this time. Clients pay directly and submit their receipt for reimbursement to their insurer if they have coverage. Coverage can vary greatly between insurance plans. Please check with your insurer about your coverage.
How do I pay for our sessions?
Payments are due the day of your appointment, and can be paid via e-transfer to linkpsychological@gmail.com
A receipt can be provided. Many insurers provide coverage for services provided by a psychologist. It's important to check in with them directly if you have any questions, as clients are ultimately responsible for payment.
What is your cancellation policy?
Once booked, your time is prepared and reserved for you. A 24-hour cancellation policy is in place for any rescheduling or cancelling of appointments. Any appointments that are missed, cancelled, or rescheduled with less than a full 24 hours will be charged the full session fee. Please note that many insurers will not reimburse for missed session fees.
What happens once I email you?
If desired, we will set up a consultation call (10-15 minutes). This call helps us determine if therapy is right for you and gives you a chance to ask any questions you might have. We will also discuss how therapy might be helpful and potentially make your first appointment.
Once a first appointment date is set, you’ll receive forms and a unique link that can be used to access my secure online waiting room at the time of your appointment.
